More ways to Give

Donate Goods

Your gift of in-kind goods will help us stretch our dollars, and most will go directly to clients at our shelter or Community Services Office.  Visit our Wish List & In-Kind Donations page for more information about our current needs.

Become a Foundation Builder

Join our committed donors with a regular monthly donation.  These gifts provide a reliable financial foundation on which SafePlace can depend.

Visit our Foundation Builders Monthly Giving page for more information.

Host a Benefit Party or Event

“I sponsor Patient Appreciation Day to raise awareness about domestic violence…and to raise money for SafePlace. Their help for individuals surviving violence is immeasurable. While we have lots of fun, we always have survivors in mind at all times.” ~ Dr. Rick Calcara, Calcara Chiropractic, Host of Annual Patient Appreciation Day

Host a party or event to raise funds and awareness about domestic violence.  We can provide speakers and information if you like.  Visit our Benefit Party or Event page to find out more.

Visit our  Community Benefit Events page to learn about upcoming benefit events.

Commemorative Gifts

Donate in memory or in honor of a loved one or special event.  This is a thoughtful way to recognize important people and provide support to survivors of violence.

Visit our Commemorative Gifts page for more information.

Participate in Workplace Giving Programs

You may designate SafePlace in your Washington State Combined Fund Drive, United Way, or other payroll deduction charitable giving program.   Payroll deductions are an easy way to give, saving you the time of writing and mailing a check.

Visit our Workplace Giving Programs page for more information.

Find Out About Corporate Giving

Your company may have a matching gift program, or be interested in sponsoring a SafePlace fundraising event.  Contact your Human Resources or Benefits Manager  to see if your firm has a matching gift policy.

Transfer Stocks & Bonds

Stocks and publicly traded securities are easy to give and offer great tax advantages. You can transfer stock to us electronically or mail us the stock certificate and a signed stock power for each certificate. Appreciated securities that you’ve held for more than one year should be transferred to us directly. If you do that, you will not pay capital gains tax and you can deduct the full fair market value. If you are holding securities that have lost value, sell the stock yourself to realize the loss and take the deduction for tax purposes. Then generate a charitable contribution deduction by donating the cash proceeds of the sale to us.  Ask your financial planner about giving plans that may offer tax savings while supporting our work.

Bequests and Planned Giving

Some of our donors give by leaving a charitable gift in a will or trust. Bequests are the most popular type of planned gifts. Anything you leave to a charitable organization will reduce the size of your taxable estate while helping a great cause. You can leave a specific bequest of a specified sum of money, a percentage of your estate, or a percentage of the residue to SafePlace after making provisions for family and friends.  Ask your financial planner for further information about giving this way.
