Our support groups follow the psycho-educational format, which focuses on building skills and integrating experiences to be able to rebuild participants’ lives. The groups are in a secure environment, closed to the public, and run for 11 weeks.
Group members provide support and experience to each other focusing on shared experiences. We explore topics such as boundary setting, rebuilding trust, reasons why stay in DV situations and coping skills.

Comment from client about SafePlace's Support Groups:
If anyone reading this is in an abusive relationship I highly recommend attending these groups. It will help you see where your relationship is when looking at the cycle & continuum (if SP still uses). In 1992 after a 15.5 yr marriage I was able to not look back because of what I learned about abuse & how close to the end of the continuum we were actually at. Meeting with others who understand where you are & what you've been living gives you strength & courage to finally be done & take your life back. Family & friends can help but from my experience they didn't understand why I would have stayed so long & not tell anyone- made me feel worse. Don't give in or give up call SP they truly can help, once you understand the cycle, make a plan to take your power back. You will if you haven't already grieve the ending of the relationship but with the your new found strength you will find peace- no more walking on eggshells. Thank you Safe Place for all you do! Prayer & love to all!
