immigration
and safety planning

SafePlace stands with all survivors of all forms of violence, and strives to make our services accessible to clients no matter their circumstances. Immigration status should not be a barrier when seeking safety planning for domestic violence and sexual assault. Our clients’ citizenship status does not preclude SafePlace from offering any of its services such as legal advocacy.

Our legal advocates can help you with legal proceedings, other safety planning measures, SafePlace services, and community resources. In addition, if a survivor who is undocumented is interested in seeing if they qualify for any type of relief such as a Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) or U-Visa, our legal advocate can help navigate that process.

SafePlace hosts a legal clinic that is offered on the first and third Thursdays of every month, excluding some holidays. Lawyers at the clinic, from Thurston County Volunteer Legal Services, offer free legal advice to those who have experienced sexual or domestic violence issues or have family law cases related to or resulting from that violence. Immigration status is not an issue during these clinics and interpreter lines are available if needed.

For more information about our legal clinic, contact (360) 786-8754 x109 or visit our Legal Advocacy page.
