Our SafePlace Legal advocates are available to provide in-court advocacy and support on an as-needed basis depending on availability. SafePlace also hosts a FREE Legal Clinic for those seeking legal advice! The SafePlace Free Legal Clinic is the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.
To receive information about in-court support, legal clinic, safety planning or other resources, call our HelpLine: (360) 754-6300 (TTY: 711) and ask your advocate about completing a legal referral.

Legal matters often arise with issues of sexual and domestic violence. SafePlace strives to provide trained advocates to advise you with legal proceedings if you want to get a protection order or to support you if you choose to make a police report.

Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Protective Orders
SafePlace Legal Specialists can now assist clients with filing Thurston County Domestic Violence Protection Orders and Sexual Assault Protection Orders from the SafePlace Community Services Center. Formerly, clients had to visit the courthouse in order to fill out Protection Order paperwork. This partnership with Family and Juvenile Court allows SafePlace clients to quickly take measures to ensure safety for themselves and their children, all with support from a trained advocate. To find out more about filing a Protective Order, please call our HelpLine at 360 754 6300.
SafePlace and Sound Legal Aid Legal Clinic
The SafePlace Legal Clinic is held the first and third Thursday of each month at the SafePlace Community Services Office beginning at 5:15PM. Because advocates cannot give legal advice or provide representation, we work in partnership with Sound Legal Aid.
We bring experienced attorneys and SafePlace advocates together at our office to help you navigate complex legal systems. This clinic is provided for those who have experienced sexual or domestic violence issues or cases related to or resulting from that violence. Space is limited, so please contact us to make your appointment! Please bring any relevant paperwork and write down your questions ahead of time as you will have approximately 45 minutes to meet with an attorney. We’re unable to provide childcare during your appointment, so please make arrangements for your children.
Again please note, the attorneys you meet with cannot represent you or go with you to court. They are here to help you represent yourself and advise you on how to fill out paperwork. While we strive to minimize barriers to legal aid for all survivors, please be advised the clinic will prioritize clients with children, limited English proficiency, or other special needs.
