Pokemon GO Players Around the World……

Saturday June 16, 11AM to 2PM

Pokemon GO players around the world will participate in a monthly Community Event. Many of those players gather in the most Pokemon rich areas of their towns to increase their chances of catching the best Pokemon of the event. Olympia is no different. For Olympia those areas include the Boardwalk, Farmers Market, and Capitol Way. Players even come from the towns around Olympia to participate.

Because of some of the collaborative requirements of the game, small groups of Pokemon GO players have transformed into regional communities. Many of those regional communities have begun working towards goals outside of the game as well. The Olympia Pokemon GO community began using the monthly gathering to help the Thurston County Food Bank. In the past 2 events they have collected more than 680 pounds of food and $270 from the players. For this month’s Community Event the Olympia Pokemon GO community is contributing to SafePlace, and are inviting everyone in the area to help as well. There will be volunteers collecting items from the SafePlace Wishlist, cash, or checks payable to SafePlace from 10AM to 2PM, in the parking lot next to The Harbor House at Percival Landing.

Come out the morning of the 16th to downtown Olympia, contribute to a great cause, and enjoy the day.

Calcara Family Chiropractic ‘Patient Appreciation Day’

Calcara Family Chiropractic  will be hosting their 30th annual Appreciation Week November 27 – December 2, 2017, and as in prior years, all donations received will go to Safeplace.

Since opening his practice in 1987, Dr. Calcara has held an annual day to say thank you to his patients, offering his services for free that day in exchange for donations to Safeplace. Over the years, tens of thousands of dollars in cash and commodities have been donated to Safeplace.

If you would like to participate in support of Safeplace in this year’s event at Calcara Family Chiropractic, you may call them at (360) 352-3333 to schedule an appointment or make a donation.

Fall ArtsWalk

Saturday October 7, 2017 from noon-5pm

SafePlace, 521 Legion Ave

The artwork on display was created by a survivor, to support healing. Each piece was created during a different phas of my healing journey, some with more pain than others, but all with deep feelings and intense memories.

Artists statement: “The Tarot cards were all added later, at the point in my journey where I felt a shift from the journey being insurmountable to ‘peace being attainable.’

I was finally able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, to see the ‘big picture’ and put all the pieces together. Seeing my trauma through the eyes of the cards helped me transform my perceptions of my life. It helped me to understand a depth of my own being and existence. This has been my journey of transformation.”

Please feel free to stop by to view this moving exhibition.
