Description
This is a psycho-educational group facilitated by an advocate peer counselor who is not a clinical therapist. This group focuses on the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault, community resources, self-esteem and preventing future violence. Group members provide support and experience to each other and are each others’ greatest teachers about systemic issues, resources and coping. The group has a presentation from an outside community member 1-2 times per month. The rest of the time, participants engage in sharing or activities around a topic related to sexual and/or domestic violence.
