8, 2008) Did you know that SafePlace has a weekly bilingual
radio show called, “Did You Know?” The show
airs on KAOS 89.3 FM every Friday from 12-1 pm. Our own
Alejandro Rugarcia, Spanish Speaking Community Advocate,
hosts this public affairs radio show. Community members
and service agencies are interviewed about how their work
connects to SafePlace, and talk about violence prevention
in our community.
In addition, the show highlights music with a non-violent
message. Guests have included: Charles Loosen, UCAN Education
and Outreach Coordinator; Rosalinda Noriega, Partners in
Prevention Education; Nicole Mercier, American Cultural
Exchange; Candyce Lund Bollinger, parent educator and counselor;
Jim Cooper of TOGETHER!; and Mary Pontarolo, SafePlace’s
Executive Director.
We are very excited about this new way of reaching out
to educate a new audience about our work. Increasing awareness
about violence prevention is key to creating the violence-free
community in which we all want to live.
