Description

This is a psycho-educational group facilitated by an advocate peer counselor who is not a clinical therapist. This group focuses on how domestic violence and sexual assault have affected our lives. The focus is on autonomy vs. safety: job skills, non-violent communication, community resources, self-esteem and preventing future violence. This group is also a connection to Mujeres Improving Job Abilities and Skills (MIJAS) as a referral for short term job opportunities and skill building. Presentations from outside community members are more frequent than with other support groups.
