Culturally Relevant Advocacy

We have advocates who speak Cambodian, English and Spanish. We provide interpreters for other languages and ASL. We strive to offer support to underserved populations disproportionately affected by issues of sexual and domestic violence.

SafePlace’s Asian Women’s Program supports survivors of sexual and domestic violence as well as human trafficking. Davy Long facilitates a group of multi-cultural women with participants representing 14 different countries of origin.

We have Spanish speaking advocates that provide services in each SafePlace program. Currently, two support groups in Spanish are provided. We also work with leaders in the Latino community to teach the dynamics of sexual and domestic violence, equip them to respond, and engage them in prevention efforts.
